How often is Child Abuse Identification and Reporting training required?
In New York, the general mandated reporter training on child abuse identification is a one-time baseline requirement rather than a recurring periodic obligation. However, the state occasionally mandates a one-time updated curriculum or supplemental addendum.

What do I need to complete the online course?
Before beginning, make sure you have:

  • An active email address (personal email is preferred since most work emails may block emails from unknown sources)

Does this certificate meet the requirements for my profession?
Yes, we are an approved training provider for all our workshops.  All certificates are valid.

What devices are required for this training?
A tablet, phone, computer, or laptop with reliable Internet access with audio and video capabilities.

What software is required for this training?
There are no specific hardware or software minimum requirements for our online course room.  Learners only need a device with an internet connection to access courses.

Do I need a valid email address?
Yes. Each learner must have a valid, working email address.  This is necessary to send your receipt, instruction, and for you to correspond with our staff.  Also, this is our primary and preferred method to contact and connect with our learners.

What do I do if I don’t have a US social security number?
If you do not have a US social security number, enter “000000000” or the number assigned by NYSED to applicants without US social security numbers.

Do I need a printer to get my certificate?
No. Certificates are provided as a pdf document in your account.

How long does it take to get my certificate?
You can download your certificate in less than 1 minute after successful completion.  Certificates are available in your account.

What do I do if I want to change the information that I entered after I have completed my training?
RECHECK ALL INFORMATION.  We do not alter certificates or student information.  Information on certificates will not be substituted by staff.  If you need to change any information after completing our training, your options are:

  • Pay a fee of $10 to access the form to amend the information we report to the State
  • Retake the training and change/add/edit your information and get a new certificate

Is there a quiz or exam after the online workshop?
There is a quiz at the end of each online workshop.  Learners have 3 attempts at the same identical quiz questions.  If learners are unsuccessful after taking their quiz, they can go back to the content and review before they take their 2nd or 3rd attempts.  Learners can retake their quiz at any time during their access period.  They do not have to retake the quiz on the same day.

How do I retrieve my certificate in my account?
If you forget your login credentials, use your email address on file to reset your password.

To retrieve your certificates from a desktop or laptop:

  1.  Log into your account
  2. In the Student Progress area, click on “Download pdf”.

To retrieve your certificate on a cellphone or other devices:

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click the green plus sign (+) next to the #1
  3. Then under the drop-down menu under Percentage, click on “Download pdf”.

How do I reset my Password?
You may reset your password as often as necessary and must use the new link sent after each request.  Please note that our system is case-sensitive, so ensure there are no unintended spaces before or after submissions and be mindful of any mix-ups between dashes and underscores. To change your password:

  1. On the website menu, next to “Login”, click on “Reset Password”.
  2. Add your email address provided during purchase (on your receipt)
  3. Follow the instructions in the email that you receive
  4. Add your preferred password
  5. Save your new password and then log into your account.

What happens if I lose my certificate?
Log into your account and download it.  We keep certificates for 5+ years.

How do I contact 1ACT?

Do I send my certificate to NYSED?
No.  We report training completion for all successful completers to the state (NYS Offices of Teaching Initiatives and NYS Office of the Professions).

Do you report electronically to the state?
We report electronically to NYS Offices of Teaching Initiatives within 7 days of completion (usually on a Sunday).  It is usually visible in your Teach account 1-3 days later. Learners are responsible for checking their Teach Account to verify training completion entries.

How do I check my TEACH Account?
To locate your workshops in your Teach Account:

  1. Log in to your TEACH account.
  2. Under “Inquiry Links“, navigate to the “Account Information” page.
  3. From the “Select Information you want to view” drop-down menu, select “Workshops“,
  4. Then click “Submit“.

What are some reasons why my training is not visible in TEACH?
The state will not publish completion if the learner’s personal identifiers’ (name, social security, date of birth) and address are not identical.  For example, if you are listed as Jane Doe in TEACH, you cannot provide us with Jane Doe Smith.  The state will not post your completion in your TEACH account.

Can I take any Child Abuse training?
No. NYSED states that the coursework must be appropriate to the professional’s practice via an approved training provider.
